Janice Ann Ansley, age 78, of Albia, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at her home in Albia. Janice was born on November 14, 1941, to Dave and LaRue (Edgington) Roberts Anderson.
Janice grew up and attended school in Albia, graduating with the Class of 1960.
On February 18, 1962, she was united in marriage to Arthur Paul Ansley at the Presbyterian Church in Albia. To this union, 4 children were born, Brian, Melinda, Dawn and Dana. Janice and Paul shared 48 years of marriage prior to his passing on March 5, 2010.
After they were married, Janice and Paul moved to Burlington where she worked at General Electric. They moved to Lovilia in 1970 and Janice worked at Chamberlains in Albia before going to work at Chicago Rivet in Albia, where she worked for almost 30 years.
Janice was very active with the Lovilia Community Betterment. In her younger years, she participated in a bowling league. She loved to travel with her friends to places such as Arizona, Las Vegas, and Branson, and especially enjoyed going for drives to watch the leaves change color in the fall. Janice enjoyed her flowers, gardening, reading, knitting, and crocheting. She loved her cat, Charlie Brown. Above all, Janice enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Janice is survived by her children: Brian (& Carol) Ansley, Melinda “Mindy” Harris, Dawn (& Kevin) Maughan and Dana (& Steve) Osborn; 14 grandchildren: Kellie (& Stephen) Muldrow, Laura (& Joshua) Barzon, Jon Ansley, Justin Harris, Jess (& Jesse) Ledbetter, Julianne (& Scott) Hadrava, Janean (& Josh) Burrell, Joy (& Bryant) Vanderpool, Josiah Harris, Jake Maughan, Caleb (& Demery) Maughan, Nathan (& Julianna) Ball-Maughan, Heather (& Jessica Volk) Osborn and Spencer (& Kirstyn Hines) Osborn; 12 great grandchildren; 3 siblings: Bill (& Sue) Roberts, Dan Anderson and Rik (& Ruth) Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Paul Ansley; her parents, David Roberts and LaRue Anderson; her stepfather, Charles “Andy” Anderson; a grandson, Joseph Maughan; and her parents-in-law, Eldora and Art Ansley.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2020, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with Janice’s family present from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. to greet family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with Pastor Lynda Carlson officiating.
Burial will follow services at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia, Iowa.
A memorial has been established to Lovilia Community Betterment and to the Leisure Lounge Senior Center in Albia.
