Jack R. McAdoo
Jack R. McAdoo, 80, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa. He was born February 7, 1932, in Coats, Kansas, the son of Hershell and Edith Burns McAdoo. He worked as a keyboard operator for Western Union for many years; he worked in several cities including St. Paul Minnesota and Albuquerque, New Mexico. He retired from Western Union in 1992. He returned to Minnesota for a while and in 2007, he moved to Oskaloosa to be near his family. He enjoyed fishing, singing, reading and outings to Wal Mart.
His family includes his daughter, Dawn McAdoo of Canby, Minnesota; four grandchildren: Deanna, Brenda, Dakota and Kristopher McAdoo; three brothers, Jerry (& Martha) McAdoo of Marshalltown, Iowa, Ronnie McAdoo of Kent, Washington, and Donnie (& Mary) McAdoo of Chickasha, Oklahoma; five sisters: Judy (& John) Beadle of Oskaloosa, Mary Lou Barth of Oskaloosa, Marilyn Patton of Oskaloosa, Phyllis (& Jim) Lang of Oskaloosa, and Wilma (& Harold) Adams of Red Bluff, California; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Helen Randall and Connie Sue McAdoo; and five brothers, Marvin, Ray, Ivan, Jay, and Buster McAdoo.
As was Jack’s wish his body has been cremated and no services are planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family would like to thank, Dr. Karen Spahr, Dr. Nick Messamer, the staff at Country Life and the Mahaska Health Partner
