J.B. Haley, age 59, of Pleasantville, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. J.B. was born in Mount Ayr, Iowa on February 15, 1959 to Harry and Ruth (Roudybush) Haley.

J.B.grew up and graduated from the Diagonal High School with the Class of 1978.

On July 30, 2001 he was united in marriage to Roben Shanks in Indianola.

J.B. was a talented carpenter and built houses all over Iowa. He also worked for Par Electric Longfellow Drilling in Clearfield, Iowa.

In his younger years he enjoyed going hunting. He was a past member of several pool playing leagues. He enjoyed going fishing and was known for his very dry sense of humor. J.B. was a caring person who was always very kind and helpful to anyone in need.

J.B. is survived by his wife, Roben Haley; 2 step-children, Robbie (& Jason) Dawson and Cordell (& Ashley) Miller; 5 grandchildren: Hannah, Ryen, Eli, Sophia and Jaxson; 11 brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ruth Haley; 2 brothers, Joe and Jim Haley; brothers-in-law, Ted Moffitt and Ronnie King; and a nephew, Greg Haley.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2018 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at “The Other Side” Bar in Melcher, Iowa.
An open memorial has been established to the family to be determined at a later date.
