Iowa wins bid to host NASS 2021 Summer Conference

DES MOINES – Election officials and state executives from around the nation will converge in Iowa in 2021 as the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) holds its annual summer conference in Des Moines. Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate developed the successful bid presentation and pitched it to his colleagues, with assistance from Catch Des Moines.

“The NASS Summer Conference is a great opportunity for secretaries of state to come together in a bipartisan fashion, collaborate and share best practices,” Secretary Pate said. “I’m thrilled to host this event in Des Moines. We’re going to give them a taste of ‘Iowa Nice’, great food and first-class hospitality in the best state in the country.”

This marks the first time in its 115-year history that NASS has held a conference in Iowa. Approximately 300 Secretaries of State, Lt. Governors, senior state staff, vendors and media outlets attend the annual gathering.

“We are thrilled to welcome the National Association of Secretaries of State to Iowa’s capital city in 2021,” said Greg Edwards, President and CEO at Catch Des Moines. “We love to host all visitors, but this is certainly a unique opportunity to showcase our thriving metro to the heads of state across the country. It’s an honor to be selected and there’s no doubt that Des Moines will roll up our sleeves and roll out the red carpet to show them some Midwest hospitality.”

The 2021 NASS Summer Conference is scheduled to be held in July of 2021. Reno, Nevada will host the 2020 NASS Summer Conference.
