Investigation Continues Into Weekend Fire
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Oskaloosa Fire Chief Mark Neff says the investigation into a weekend fire is ongoing.
On Saturday night, firefighters were called to the 400 block of South Market for a garage fire. The building measured 20 feet by 24 feet in size.
The call came in at approximately 10:15 pm. Reports of explosions and people running from the scene came in.
The explosions were caused by three 20 pound LP cylinders, and 14 firefighters worked to douse the flames for approximately two hours.
Initial damage estimates were placed at 60 thousand dollars, but Oskaloosa Fire Chief Mark Neff says that number is sure to rise.
Those individuals seen fleeing from the scene were the ones who called in the initial report. They were seen running because of the explosions that took place as the fire erupted.
Firefighters continue to examine video surveillance footage from that night in their investigation.
Oskaloosa Fire hasn’t determined a cause for the fire at this point, but continue to scour the scene for further clues.
