Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Pella Dutch made the short hop to Oskaloosa to take on the Indians, and to see if their 41 game winning streak would continue.

With the Indians and Dutch tied at 7 each part way through the 2nd quarter, it looked like that winning streak had a possibility of coming to an end. The Indians were driving when a couple of penalty calls derailed the drive and seemed to deflate the team.

The second half was all Dutch as they rolled to a 35-7 win over the Indians.

Oskaloosa Head Coach Jake Jenkins spoke after the game about the team’s effort.

“It was a frustrating night on both sides of the ball,” said Jenkins. “Offensively and defensively we were frustrated. I’m disappointed to give up 35. We had a few more turnovers that lead to more points than I would like.”

“I’m disappointed overall,” said Jenkins. “I thought it was going to be a lot closer game, and it was a close game in the beginning, but we just let it get away from us.”

Jenkins says that the game got away with a few momentum shifts with a turnover for a touchdown. “There was several little things here and there. No one play makes or breaks a game, it is the way it is. It’s unfortunate because we were in it and really playing with them. We had our opportunities to go up 14-7 or even further, and made some crucial mistakes and didn’t respond the best.”

Pella took advantage of the Indians on the ground, and Jenkins said that there was no film exchange, and some new faces on the Dutch team kept the players and coaches guessing. “They’re really in the same boat too.”

“Them being so different, having so many guys, they are a lot different than they were last year,” added Jenkins.

Jenkins said that as the team prepares for next week and traveling to Grinnell, “we’re going to see where we can really grow. We’re going to check out our run game and check out our pass game and check out how we can stop the run better.”

Oskaloosa had 30 rushing attempts for a total of 89 yards, with an average of 3 yards per carry.
Senior Seth Howard pushed in from 3 yards out for the lone Oskaloosa touchdown.

Pella had 47 rushing attempts for 297 yards, with 4 touchdowns.

In the air, Oskaloosa completed 12 of 29 attempts for a total of 124 yards, with 1 interception.
Pella passed 14 times, completing just 4, for a total of 41 yards and 1 interception.

Three Indians had 6 tackles each, Nikolas Dystra, Jarad Kruse, and Damon Miles.

Oskaloosa Senior Jaden Van Roekel had the only interception on the night.

Oskaloosa travels to Grinnell on Friday night to take on the Tigers.
