Indians Compete At Grinnell Swim Meet

The Oskaloosa Indians traveled to Grinnell on Thursday night to make up an earlier meet that was postponed due to severe weather. The Indians came out and set a school record and had more personal bests during the meet.

The boys split the team up and sent two groups to the starting blocks for the 200 Medley Relay. The group of Owen Gordon, Carson Abrahamson, Jack Miller and Jarod Miller came away with a time of 1:57.00 to earn a 3rd place finish and the group of Carson Breon, Colin Fiechtner, Jack Dawson and Nicholas Koenig came away with the 4th place finish in a time of 2:01.65.

Next race was the 200 Free Event, and Carson Breon went to the blocks and came away with a new school record by finishing in a time of 2:00.05 for the Indians to earn a 1st place finish.
In the 200 IM, the Indians sent Colin Fiechtner, and he swam a 2:23.10 and earned a 4th place finish.

The 50 Free was next, and Owen Gordon took home the 2nd place finish with a time of 24.68, Jarod Miller finished 4th with a time of 25.37, and Nicholas Koenig finished in a time of 33.35.
After a short break, Carson Breon was sent to the blocks for the 100 Fly event, and he turned in a time of 58.76 to earn a 1st place finish for the Indians.

In the 100 Free event, Osky sent Carson Abrahamson to the blocks, and he came away with a time of 1:03.45 for a 7th place finish, Nicholas Koenig who finished in 1:14.79 for a 10th place finish and Anthony Chavez who ain 1:21.42

In the 500 Free Event, Oskaloosa sent Jack Miller to swim the event for the first time this year, and he came away with a 5:30.59 (school record) and earned a 1st place finish for the Indians.

In the 200 Free Relay, the Indians sent Owen Gordon, Jack Dawson, Jarod Miller and Carson Breon to the blocks and they finished in a time of 1:40.22 to earn 2nd place. The second relay team was filled by Carson Abrahamson, Nicholas Koenig, Anthony Chavez and Colin Fiechtner as they finished in a time of 2:06.55.

Next event for the night was the 100 Back as the Indians did very well in this event as Jack Miller finished in a time of 1:02.77 and Owen Gordon finished in a time of 1:04.18 to earn the Indians 1st and 2nd place finishes.

Next up was the 100 Breast and Jack Dawson swam a time of 1:08.43 to earn a 1st place finish and Carson Abrahamson finished in a time of 1:20.37 to earn a 4th place finish for the Indians.

Next meet is the Conference meet Saturday at Boone, and then the following Saturday is the District meet where all swimmers have to qualify to earn a trip to state.
