Human Remains Found North Of Montezuma

Montezuma, Iowa – The State Medical Examiner was working a scene north of Montezuma near Ewart Road and 110th St.

Division of Criminal Investigation Assistant Director Mitch Mortvedt spoke with the press on Thursday afternoon after a farmer had reported what he believed were human remains.

The Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office responded and confirmed what the farmer had reported. They called the DCI since they had been involved in the missing Xavior Harrelson case from the beginning.

The Iowa State Medical Examiners Officer responded, along with the DCI, and said it appeared to be the remains of an adolescent and that the clothing found on the scene is consistent with the clothing Xavier was reported to have been last seen wearing.

11-year-old Xavior Harrelson, who was last seen on the afternoon of Thursday, May 27th, was possibly wearing blue pajama bottoms and a red T-shirt with black tennis shoes.
