Holiday Show Helps Provide Food For The Needy
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Music and food are things most of us associate with the holiday season.
For Kyle Ewing, the holiday is the perfect opportunity to use his love of music to help those in need have more to eat.
Now in its 8th year, the Holiday Fundraiser Show draws a large crowd every year, and it’s something Ewing hopes to continue into the foreseeable future.
With that first show in 2010, Ewing had a desire to lend a hand to the tenants whose home had been destroyed by fire. “So we collected money and gave it to the United Way who was kind of handling that,” explained Ewing.
“So the next year, in 2011, we decided to make this a thing,” added Ewing of the donations at the Holiday Show. “Ever since then, we’ve done the food drive.”
This year was a little easier to organize for Ewing, who had called Nashville, Tennessee home for most of the previous years.
Ewing is happy to help put the show together and describes it as a “win-win” for the community, those in need and the venue.
Ewing said the show was able to fill 3 cardboard totes with food, with an additional $106 in cash.
