Holiday Renaissance Themed Madrigal Dinner a Hit

Magrical Cast for 2011 (photo submitted)

Near 400 Oskaloosa High School families, friends, and administrators filed into the Gateway Church of the Nazarene December 8th, 9th and 10th, for a holiday concert and dinner to be remembered.

The Oskaloosa High School Choir, led by Chris Weinreich, presented singers and comedy performances by the Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and Madrigal Choir, while guests enjoyed a meal of roasted meat, green beans, cheesy potatoes, fresh rolls, apple crisp, and of course all toasted with wassail, wassail, wassail!

The High School Chamber Orchestra, led by Bruce McLellan, also performed during the dinner while Ashley Nimtz and Riley Berg played trumpet throughout the evening. The show was witty and entertaining for all in attendance and the amazing voices of the madrigal troop gave a concert that captivated from the beginning to the end!

The parent committee for the event was also a great help in organizing, decorating, plating food, preparing drinks, assisting with costumes and generally working all areas behind the scenes.

As a guest on the last night, I can honestly say that Oskaloosa is lucky to have the performance arts availability for our youth and equally lucky to have those leaders that care. The hard work and dedication an event like this takes was evident! Thank you Oskaloosa School District and Chris Weinreich for caring and giving us and our youth such a show! I look forward already to next year.
