High-Speed Pursuit Ends with Stop Sticks Deployment in Oskaloosa

Oskaloosa, Iowa—A high-speed chase originating in Marion County was safely concluded on the outskirts of Oskaloosa thanks to the swift action of local law enforcement.
Marion County Sheriff’s deputies initiated the pursuit on Highway 163 after observing a vehicle speeding outside Pella, Iowa. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Blaise Donnejour from Ottumwa, allegedly failed to comply with attempts to pull over.
The chase continued into Mahaska County, with the Oskaloosa Police Department notified of the approaching vehicle. At the city limits, Oskaloosa officers deployed tire deflation devices [Stop Sticks], effectively disabling two tires on the suspect’s vehicle and ending the pursuit.
Donnejour now faces multiple charges from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, including speeding, operating with a restricted license, and eluding law enforcement.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office, and Oskaloosa Police Department were all involved in the operation.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
