Iowa Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense (DoD) office, announced Adam Andersen, Plant Manager of DuPont Pioneer near Hedrick was honored October 31st with a Patriotic Employer Award in recognition of extraordinary support of their employee serving in the Guard and Reserve.
“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Dick Rue, Iowa ESGR Chair. Anderson was nominated for being highly supportive of the highly supportive of the National Guard by his Reserve Component employee, SPC Jeremy Tosh. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”
“When I was hired on at DuPont Pioneer, Adam knew of my military background and hired me knowing that I would possibly be gone. A few times now, I have been called to active duty orders on a very short notice. The first time, I was given a week notice that I would be going to WLC for 3 weeks. While I was at WLC, I was given an opportunity to go on ADOS orders as a recruiting assistant for 6 months. Once again, Adam was completely understanding and has kept me in the schedule for when I return back to work. Adam has been overly supportive with my military career and has gone above and beyond to ensure that these transitions are smooth.” Said SPC Tosh.
ESGR, a DoD office, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within DoD.
