Harvey Luzadder, 83, of Oskaloosa died Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Unity Point Health Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was born Thursday, November 29, 1934 In Chicago, Illinois, the son of James and Amanda Schnake Luzadder.

Harvey grew up and attended school in Chicago.

Harvey joined the Army in 1951 and served overseas in the Korean War. Following his discharge from the Army he moved to Beacon and went to work driving semi for the Oskaloosa Produce.

On December 30, 1971, he was united in marriage to Sandra Wymore at Oskaloosa; Sandra died February 1, 1999.

In the early 1970’s Harvey went to work driving truck for Vermeer in Pella. He retired from there after 30 plus years of service in 2001.

In his retirement, Harvey enjoyed driving vehicles for the local car dealerships. He also enjoyed trips to the Casino and gambling. Harvey’s family was the center of his world. He enjoyed the close relationships he had with his immediate family and extended family. He was extremely independent and thought nothing of going on a cross country road trip to visit a relative.

Serving in the military was very important to him and his family. He made two trips to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials. His first was with his sons and his last was with the Honor Flight honoring Korean War Veterans.

His family includes his six children: Mike (& Wendy) Luzadder of Swanee, Tennessee, Brenda (& Harold) Evans of Etowah, Tennessee, John Lee (& Tammy) Longcor of St. Roberts, Missouri, Jim Longcor of Marion, Iowa, Joe (& Julie) Longcor of Searsboro, and Jerri Longcor of Hiawatha; thirteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a brother, Harry Luzadder of Oskaloosa; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Sandra; Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers: Charles Luzadder, Frank Luzadder, James Luzadder, Earnest Luzadder, George Luzadder, and William Luzadder; and three sisters: Loraine Chilcolte, Amanda Platt, and Florence Fisher.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 1 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating.
As was Harvey’s wish his body will be cremated following the funeral ceremony, and burial of the urn will be at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Friday after 1:30 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Friday evening to greet friends and relatives.
