Hafner Selected to Coach in VSN-NAIA Senior Game

Oskaloosa–Of the 92 head football coaches in the NAIA, Statesmen top man Todd Hafner was one of just two picked to guide players at the division’s only senior game.

Hafner is currently slated to coach the Americans squad in the Fifth Annual Victory Sports Network Senior Classic in Salina, Kan. on April 30 at 12 p.m. (CST).  The opposing Nationals roster will be led by Dewayne Alexander of Cumberland (Tenn.).

Hafner is fresh off pacing Penn to a memorable 10-1 campaign last fall, headlined by a Midwest League co-championship at 6-1.  The team broke numerous school records, but most notably set new NAIA marks for single-season rushing yards and rushing yards per attempt.

Recently concluding his seventh year, he currently owns a 43-35 mark and ranks second all-time in school history for coaching wins (24-10 the past three years).  Prior to his tenure, the Statesmen program struggled to a 24-116 record from 1990-2003.

Hafner has collected MWL Coach of the Year honors twice (2008, 2010) and was the American Football Coaches Association Region 2 Coach of the Year for this past fall as well.

“Hafner and Alexander are two of the best the NAIA has to offer,” VSN Owner and Founder Jason Dannelly said.  “They have both helped to put their programs on the map nationally and take them to a new level of football.”
