Gun Magazine Found Outside Of Oskaloosa Elementary

Oskaloosa Iowa Elementary School

Oskaloosa Iowa Elementary School start of 2010-2011 school year.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – On Monday morning, two students found a loaded magazine from an unidentified firearm while at recess on the north side of the elementary building.

The Oskaloosa Police Department and the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office were called to aid in the investigation.

School officials state that no firearm was found on or near the school following a search conducted by law enforcement and staff.

The district believes the magazine may have fallen out of someone’s coat or bag during the weekend. The Lacey Complex is nearby and the facility was busy over the weekend.

“At this time, the district and law enforcement knows of no threat to the district or students,” said a message sent out to parents.

The incident remains under investigation.
