GRINNELL’S GOLDFIEN NAMED TO JEWISH SPORTS REVIEW ALL-AMERICA SOCCER TEAM

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College shortstop Michael Goldfien ’12 was recently named to the Jewish Sports Review All-America Baseball First Team for NCAA Division II and III, as well as NAIA.

The honor is the latest this season for Goldfien, from Mill Valley, Calif. (Tamiscal), who also earned a spot on the D3baseball.com All-Region Team as well as All-Midwest Conference South Division honors.

Goldfien was seventh in the MWC in hits with 49 and among the leaders in batting average at .336. He was tops for the Pioneers in runs scored with 30 and assists with 106, second in batting average, third in slugging percentage at .425 and fourth in on-base percentage at .408.

Goldfien helped the Pioneers to another strong campaign in 2012, as they earned their third consecutive outright MWC South crown. Grinnell had a 31-5 league record during that span.
