GRINNELL, Iowa – For the third time this season, Grinnell College’s Patrick Maher ’14 has been named Midwest Conference Men’s Basketball Performer of the Week.

Maher, a 6-6, 170-pound guard from Park Ridge, Ill. (Maine Township), made national headlines when he shattered the NCAA record, regardless of level, for assists in a game when he dished out 37 against College of Faith (Ark.).

That broke the previous NCAA mark of 34 established in 2007 by former Pioneer and current Grinnell associate head coach David N. Arseneault ’09. Maher finished the game with a double-double as he scored 19 points. For the week, he averaged 15.3 points and 17.3 assists per game.

The MWC Women’s Performer of the Week is Marla Willard of Monmouth College.
