GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College’s Darice Wheeler ’21 drew national attention for her record-breaking softball performance on the team’s spring break trip to Florida.

Wheeler, who pitches and plays second base, was named in the “Top Performances” list released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) in conjunction with the national Louisville Slugger/NFCA Players of the Week.

She tied the school’s season record for home runs with six on the trip while hitting .458, going 11-of-24 at the plate with four doubles, 13 RBIs and seven runs scored.
