Grinnell women’s soccer team earns Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College’s women’s soccer team has established itself as a top squad on the field, both in terms of play as well as sportsmanship.

The latter trait was recognized recently as the Pioneers gained the United Soccer Coaches’ Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award. Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze awards are presented to select teams with varying levels of penalty cards received during the season.

Coach Kirsten Koester’s squad earned the Gold level of the award, which goes to programs that receive cards in no more than 10 percent of their games. Grinnell is one of just 11 programs nationwide to earn the Gold award.
