Grinnell, IA – Grinnell College has been chosen to host the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The meet will be contested in the Charles Benson Bear ’39 Recreation and Athletic Center. The six-lane, 200-meter track includes an eight-lane straightaway as well as runways for the triple jump, long jump, high jump and pole vault and shot put and weight throw areas.

Grinnell is no stranger to hosting national meets, having hosted the national indoors in March 2012. Grinnell also hosted the national cross country championships in 1990 and again in 1993, as well as the swimming and diving championships in 1978.

“We are thrilled to be selected to host the NCAA DIII indoor meet in 2016,” said Grinnell men’s track and field coach Will Freeman. “Our outstanding facility and the support of the College community and the greater Grinnell community obviously made an impact on the Championships Committee of the NCAA. The 2012 indoor meet at Grinnell was a great success and a great learning experience for us all. We look forward to the planning process beginning.”
