GRINNELL’S WISTEY SHATTERS SCHOOL, MWC RECORD IN 100 BUTTERFLY AT NCAA DIVISION III NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College’s Imelda Wistey ’14 shattered her own school and Midwest Conference record in the women’s 100-yard butterfly at the NCAA Division III National Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday in Knoxville, Tenn.
Wistey swam the race in 57.01 seconds, beating her record-breaking time of 58.47 from earlier this season.
She did not advance to the finals of the event, but moved up considerably from her No. 38 seed to 21st place. She was just two-tenths of a second out of making the finals field of 16.
Wistey will compete in the 100 breaststroke, an event in which she’s ranked first, on Friday and then compete in the 200 breaststroke on Saturday.
