Girls Varsity Falls To Fairfield

Fairfield, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Girls Varsity team battled a tough Fairfield team Tuesday night, but couldn’t overcome the homecourt advantage.

Oskaloosa, 0-2 on the season is working on rebuilding their program and was lead in scoring Tuesday night by sophomore Mary Nelson, who posted 11 points and three rebounds in the effort.

She was followed by junior Marleigh Denburger who added 9 points and pulled down a team-leading 12 rebounds against the Trojans.

Four Indians each added two points, Lindsey Holmberg, Emma Kelderman, Kaylee Johnson, and Ashley Drost.

On the boards, freshman Kaylee Johnson pulled down six, with junior Ashley Drost equalling that mark.

Junior Emma Kelderman and freshman Jillian Jennings each had four rebounds in the effort.

Oskaloosa will open their season at home on Friday night when they host the Pella Christian Eagles. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 pm.
