GIBB’S TOP-FIVE FINISH LEADS WARRIORS IN ILLINOIS

Madison, IL – The No. 4 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men’s Golf squad, competing against top NCAA DI competition, placed 12th overall at the SIUE Dolenc Invitational at the Gateway National Golf Links on Tuesday afternoon. The Warriors posted a 16-over, 868 throughout the 54-hole event.

As a team, the Warriors opened up with a strong showing in the opening round, posting a 282 before finishing the event with round scores of 290 and 296. Indian Hills’ 12th place showing came in a field of 17 teams, including 16 NCAA DI programs

Freshman Ronnie Gibb (Croxley Green, England/Croxley Danes) starred for the Warriors, tying for third overall after a stellar performance on the course. Gibb fired an 8-over, 205 for the freshman’s best individual performance of the young season.

Gibb opened the week with a bogey-free 7-under in the opening round to sit atop the leaderboard through 18 holes. Gibb’s round score of 64 is tied for third-lowest all-time in school history. Gibb finished the event with a 3-under 68 in the second round followed by a 2-over 73 on the final day of competition to earn the top-five finish.

Gibb finished the event with 12 birdies, including seven in the opening round to go along with an eagle on the Par-5 hole No. 3 in the second round.

Fellow freshman Joaquin Sandoval (Santiago, Chile/Carino Saint Christian) tied for 40th overall with a 3-over, 216 followed by sophomore Nathan White’s (Canberra, Australia/Lake Ginnindarra Secondary College) 7-over, 219, tied for 61st overall.

Freshmen Mathias Ostergaard (Skanderborg, Denmark/Ikast-Brande Handelsgymnasium) and Darcy Mackay (Luddenham, Australia/Australian Christian College) rounded out the scoring for the Warriors.
