Gerald Gigli, 89 of Deep River passed away Wednesday evening, October 10, 2018 at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.

Gerald Peter Gigli, the son of Peter and Minota (Marchi) Gigli, was born on August 29, 1929 in San Francisco, CA.

Gerald was a 1945 graduate of Jefferson High School in Daly City, CA and attended University of California Berkeley.

Gerald was united in marriage to Betty Cheli in 1950. To this union three children were born, David, Dana and Dayle.

Gerald enlisted in the United States Air Force with his best friend in 1950. Following his honorable discharge in 1954, he returned to Daly City, California and worked in the family plumbing business. He worked for Gigli Plumbing for 25 years before taking his talents to U.C. Berkeley.

On April 9, 1994, Gerald was married to Carol Dunlop in Reno, Nevada. In 2006, they moved to Deep River, Iowa where Carol lived for several years earlier.

Gerald was a huge San Francisco 49ers and Giants fan. He enjoyed doing woodworking in his younger years and had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his cats and dogs, with his favorite being C.R.

His legacy will be honored by his wife, Carol Gigli of Deep River; seven children: David Gigli of Antioch, California, Dana (longtime companion, Peter Murray) Ordonez of Antioch, California and son-in-law, Nelson Ordonez of San Jose, California, Dayle (& Joe) Velasquez of Brentwood, California, Rodney (& Susan) Martin of Arizona, Karen (& Rick) Brennan of Deep River, Robert (& Sunnye) Pruden of Houston, Texas and Tanya (& Chuck) Sellers of Sigourney; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Minota Gigli.

Memorial services will begin at 5:30 pm Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PALS, Poweshiek Animal League Service.
Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.
