Free Pair of Running Shoes for Top Male and Female Finishers

According to Brown Shoe Fit Manager Brian Myers, Brown Shoe Fit is happy to support Run in the Sun because proceeds benefit the Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House. “The Serenity House is such a great community asset and we are pleased to be able to support this fundraiser.”

MAHASKA COUNTY – Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Browns Shoe Fit, the top male and top female 5K finisher at Mahaska Health Foundation’s Run in the Sun on Aug. 3, will receive a certificate for a free pair of running shoes, valued up to $150.

Run in the Sun, held again this year at the Lacey Recreation Complex Community Stadium, features a chip-timed 5K Run and a 1-Mile Walk for all ages and abilities; even strollers are welcome. The cost to participate in either race is $25 per person. Teams of 10 or more can register for $20 per person if registered by July 17. Individual registration is $25 and same day registration is $30 per person.

Mahaska Health Foundation Chair and Run in the Sun Committee Member Sandy Bailey is especially excited to announce a new opportunity to celebrate, honor or memorialize a loved one through a customized Tribute Sign which will on display before and after the race. Tribute Signs are 11 x 17 inches and cost $20 each.

“Anyone is welcome to order a Tribute Sign, regardless of their participation in the run/walk,” Bailey said. “You can have up to 15 words on the Tribute Sign, along with the name of the person or group you are honoring or memorializing. The cost is $20 per sign and all proceeds benefit the Serenity House.”

Online registration, including the purchase of Tribute Signs, is available at mahaskahealth.org/run2019. Paper registrations are available for pick-up at Entrance #1 and Entrance #4 at the hospital, or you can call Foundation Director Cathy Stahl at 641.676.7146 or email cstahl@mahaskahealth.org for more information.
