Freaky Fun For A 5k

Oskaloosa, Iowa –  Ghosts, ghouls and various super hero’s lined up to take off on the Annual YMCA Freaky 5k Run on Saturday.

The second annual Freaky 5k took place at the Lacey Community Stadium. “We’ve had a lot of fun,” said Mahaska County YMCA Director Dawn Collins. “The costume contest adds a unique little twist to it.”

Eighty runners were per-registered, and walk-ons were arriving the morning of the run.

The funds raised are used to help support the Mahaska County YMCA and it’s many programs.

Ryan Harkema, Sports, Fitness & Aquatics Director at the YMCA said the event is “To keep people healthy, keep people active.”
