Franco Wins Heart Award After Season-Opening Title
Oskaloosa–Gabriana Franco (Fr., Tracy, Calif., Exercise Science) claimed not only a crown in her first collegiate event, but was also rewarded for that showing by earning Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week laurels Monday.
Franco picked up her first career league honor after guiding the Statesmen to a title at last week’s Navy and Gold Classic.
Franco opened her collegiate career with a 78 and then added a 72 for a final score of 150, holding off the tournament runner-up by three strokes. She managed three birdies and 22 pars during the event
The award is the first for WPU this year.
