Oskaloosa–A quartet of William Penn track and field athletes were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2018-2019 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes recently.

Alexzandrea Woudenberg (So., Ottumwa, Iowa) led the way with a 4.00 Grade Point Average to represent the women’s squad. Seth Davis (Jr., Farmerville, Texas) topped the men with a 3.92 GPA, while David Williams (Jr., Victor, Iowa, Secondary Education) held a 3.90 GPA and Sage Ehresman (Jr., Sully, Iowa, Exercise Science) had a 3.50 mark.

The award is the first for Woudenberg, Davis, and Ehresman, while Williams now has two career awards, including one from cross country last fall.

A total of 342 men and 516 women from within the NAIA were awarded the laurel.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.
