Four Cagers Earn Scholar-Athlete Awards

Oskaloosa–Four individuals from the Statesmen women’s basketball team were recently honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2022-2023 NAIA Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athletes.

Kennedy Young (Jr., Guthrie Center, Iowa, Sociology), who is a first-time honoree, leads the group with a 3.88 Grade Point Average.

Emma Morts (Sr., Milford, Ill., Business Management) is next with a 3.63 GPA, while Journie Augmon (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev., Human Services) is at 3.58 and Eva Disbrow (Jr., St. Charles, Mo., Nursing) is at 3.56. The award is the second in the careers of Morts, Augmon, and Disbrow.

A total of 873 individuals from the NAIA were lauded with the accolade.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport’s eligibility paperwork.
