At 7:30 pm on Thursday evening, the Elks Lodge #340 and the Oskaloosa City Band are co-hosting a Flag Day Ceremony prior to the weekly City Band Concert. Scout Troops #71 and #77 are also participating, as the history of Flag Day is told, along with the progression of the American Flag and how it progressed to the banner we know and love today. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend this educational and patriotic ceremony.

At 8:00 pm, the City Band will perform a concert, commencing with the “Star Spangled Banner” and ending with “The Stars and Stripes Forever”. Other selections that will appeal to a wide variety of listeners, include: “Prestissimo”, “Ob-La-Di”, “Time To Say Goodbye”, “Them Basses”, “Africa”, “The Magnificent Seven”, and “We’re All In This Together”.

Each week the band recognizes birthday and anniversary celebrations with a special song. The weekly sign-up sheet is located near the bottom of the bandstand steps. Bubble blowing is encouraged during the final performance each week as the band plays “Good Night”.

Follow the band on Facebook and Twitter @OskaloosaCityBand for updates and video posts throughout the summer.
