NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA — The final edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Central Region poll was released Tuesday morning and the Central College women’s track and field team finished at No. 10

Rankings are based off placement in the Regional Descending Order Lists. Those lists are organized by top finishes of Division III athletes of the same region in each event that will be contested at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. The higher an athlete sits on the list, the more points he or she adds to his or her team’s total. These points do not reflect placement or scoring at the NCAA Championships, but is to show the individuals and teams that have the best chances at scoring well at a meet involving the 19 teams in the region.

Evie Kammeyer (senior, Urbandale) and Mary Gray (freshman, West Des Moines, Waukee HS) had top-five marks in the region in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10 minutes, 48.93 seconds) and heptathlon (4,160 points), respectively.

High jumper Tori Van Velzen (sophomore, Norwalk) finishes No. 6 (5-3) and Kennedy Morris (freshman, Earlham) is No. 7 in the discus throw (142-11). Holly McKinney (senior, St. Charles, I-35 HS) is also No. 7 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:05.94). Freshman Kiki Pingel (Pella) is No. 8 in the heptathlon (4,010 points).

Pingel opened the 4×400-meter relay team that clocked a time of 4:02.16 at the Iowa Conference Outdoor Championships and is slotted at No. 8. Kate Patton (senior, Murray), Gray and Lynzie Miller (junior, Des Moines, Lincoln HS) were also on that team.

Nebraska Wesleyan University ended in the top spot.

Kammeyer will represent the Dutch women at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, running the prelims of the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Thursday at 5 p.m.
