Festival Of Trees Addition To Christmas Festival
Be on the lookout for some changes regarding this year’s Lighted Christmas Parade Awards. We have a lot of new and exciting things to offer this year and one of those things is the 4-H Festival of Trees. On Friday, December 4, the community is invited to attend the free “Old Fashioned Christmas Festival” in the Penn Central Mall from 4:00-9:00 p.m. The 4-H Festival of Trees makes up one part of the event, amongst many free children’s activities, a canned food drive, Santa and friends, music, and more! The Festival of Trees is open to any individual, business, or group who would like to take part. Trees can be put on display-only or displayed and part of a Silent Auction. The public is encouraged to check out the tree display and vote for the Best Use of Theme (An Old Fashioned Oskaloosa Christmas), Most Creative, and Best Use of Decorations. Awards will be announced on the stage at 8:30 p.m., with the Silent Auction announcements to follow. The event will conclude at 9:00 p.m. Anyone interested in entering a tree can contact Amy Brainard, Mahaska County Youth Coordinator, at 641-673-5841 or vermeerA@iastate.edu. The deadline to register for a tree is Monday, November 16. Full details about the Oskaloosa Holiday Happenings can be found at the Oskaloosa Chamber office and online at, http://www.oacdg.org/files/christmasbrochure.pdf.
