Obituary:
Fern Evelyn Jarman was born on November 23, 1913 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Harry Nichols and Isabell (Holliday) Nichols.
As a young girl, Fern lived with the Judge Hays family and cared for their children. She was united in marriage to Victor Jarman on January 19, 1939 at the Little Brown Church. Fern was devoted to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Christ’s Church and the Chicago Cubs. She spent a great deal of time gardening, quilting and baking to the delight of family and friends. For the last 9 months Fern has lived at Locust Hill where she was loved and cared for.
Fern passed away on Tuesday at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 97 years and 14 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, all of her siblings, a grandson and a great-grandson.
Survivors include her son, Keith (LaVera) Jarman; daughter, Nancy (Mark) VanHouwelingen all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Lisa Modlin, Dennis Rowley, Sara Oden, Doug VanHouwelingen, Teri VanHouwelingen; great-grandchildren, Staci McKay, Chelsey Rowley, Louden Rowley, Ally Rowley, Amanda Oppedal, Kalee O’Connor, Geoffrey Oden, Kelsey Oden; great-great-grandchildren, Paige Oppedal, Wyatt Oppedal; sister-in-law, Louise Nichols, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
