Oskaloosa hosted Des Moines Lincoln in a scrimmage on Friday night.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The heat was scheduled to build, and it didn’t feel much like fall, but the Oskaloosa Indians Football team was on the field in a scrimmage with Des Moines Lincoln on Friday night.

Oskaloosa News spoke with Activities Director Ryan Parker about the upcoming season.

Besides football, volleyball, girls swimming, and boys and girls cross country are all getting underway.

Volleyball will kick off on Monday at home, and girl’s swimming will be in Ottumwa on Thursday.

The first official football game is Friday night when Oskaloosa hosts Washington.

“It’s always important for us to start off the school year on the right foot,” Parker said about entering the new year.

Girls Swimming has 18 girls out this year for Coach Rachel Brown, who is in her third year. Parker says that 18 swimmers is a good number for the program.

OHS Cross County will host their only home meet on September 12th at Edmundson Park. That meet is different than many other meets because the geography of the park challenges runners.

If you still need your activity tickets for the year, Parker says different options, from punch cards to individual and family passes, are available.

There are also reserved football tickets for $8.00 a seat.

To purchase your activity tickets or for more information, call the activities department at 641.673.4421.
