Eveland Access Summer Fest & Campground Cook-Off

Eveland Access Campgrounds

July 20, 2019

1:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The Mahaska County Conservation Board invites the public to a new event at the Eveland Access Campgrounds on Saturday, July 20th. Celebrate the summer with us at the Eveland Access Summer Fest & Campground Cook-Off. The day will provide activities for some family fun and a chance to compete in an outdoor cooking contest. So bring your best cooking recipes and supplies to create a tasty entry to be judged for prizes! Following the judging, all dishes in the competition will be set out for tasting. All entries must be cooked at the campgrounds on the day of the event and can only be cooked on/in: campfire with wood or coals, a grill, smoker, or Dutch ovens. Campfires can only be used in campsite fire pits. Grills, smokers and Dutch ovens not needing a campfire can be set up by the shelter house if not done at a campsite. Questions? Call MCCB at (641)673-9327 ext. 2.

The day will not be just about great food, but also family fun! Outdoor games will be set up by the shelter house and live music will be provided by the local band Backrow Hooligans. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the fun! Parking is available for the public in the parking lots between the east and west sides of the campgrounds.

Event Schedule:

1:00 pm Chef’s meeting and cook-off registration at the shelter house

4:30 pm Music by the Backrow Hooligans in the shelter house

6:00 pm Dinner menu judging for main dishes, side dishes and desserts

(the public can taste-test the food following the contest)
