Etta Mae Evans, 77, of rural Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away July 29, 2015 at the Mercy Medical Center of Des Moines. Etta was born February 11, 1938 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Charles and Catherine (Utterback) Fitzsimmons.

Etta attended the Eldon High School.

On August 6, 1956 Etta and Junior Evans were united in marriage at the Assembly of God Church in Eldon, Iowa. Etta and Junior were blessed with over 58 years of marriage and six sons: Chuck, Harold, Dale, Jim, Melvin, and Bryan.

Etta was a homemaker and a health care giver all her life. She retired in 2000 from the Mahaska Care Facility.

Etta was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and a devoted fan of Little League Baseball.

She is survived by her husband Junior of rural Oskaloosa; six sons: Chuck Evans of Oskaloosa, Harold Evans of Oskaloosa, Dale (& Mona) Evans of Sturgeon, MO, Jim (& Carol) Evans of Oskaloosa, Melvin Evans of Oskaloosa, and Bryan (& Nancy) Evans of Oskaloosa; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Etta is also survived by her brothers and sisters, especially Deloris Lanman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Catherine Fitzsimmons; three brothers: Chuck, Robert, and George Fitzsimmons; and her daughter-in-law, Hellalane “Laney” Evans.

Visitation for Etta will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., on Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Etta’s family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 P.M., Friday evening.
Funeral services for Etta will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating.
Burial will follow services at Highland Cemetery of Eddyville.
A memorial has been established to Etta’s family and will be decided at a later date.
The Eddyville Funeral Chapel is assisting Etta’s family with services.
