Emergency Responders, Medical Helicopter, and Oskaloosa Students Team Up for Life-Saving Lesson

Event: Mock Car Wreck with emergency helicopter landing

Date/Time: Wednesday, April 30, 2025 – 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Location: Oskaloosa High School, 1816 N 3rd St, Oskaloosa, IA 52577 (North Parking Lot)

OSKALOOSA, IOWA—Oskaloosa High School will hold a mock car wreck simulation on Wednesday, April 30, beginning at 9:15 a.m., to raise awareness about the real-life consequences of distracted and impaired driving. The event is coordinated by the Oskaloosa High School Peer Helpers and will include a realistic crash scene with emergency response and a helicopter landing in the parking lot, North of the grassy area in front of the Oskaloosa Middle School.

The mock crash will involve participation from: Oskaloosa High School Peer Helpers, Oskaloosa Fire Department, Oskaloosa Police Department, Mahaska Health, Mahaska County EMS, Mahaska County Sheriff Department and a medical helicopter TBD based on emergency availability and flying conditions. (Mercy One or Life Flight).

This event is exclusive to students in the Class of 2025 and the media. It is not open to the general public.
