The Oskaloosa Elks Lodge No. 340 recently donated $3,500 to the Oskaloosa Take Along Meals program to help pay for food needed to send weekend meals home with students at Oskaloosa Elementary School, Oskaloosa Middle School and Eddyville Elementary School. The money comes from Elks National Foundation Community Improvement and Anniversary grants, which the local Lodge qualified for by financially supporting ENF.

Take Along Meals currently packs about 70 meals per week for children with food insecurity. A group of volunteers meets every other week to pack the meals during the school year. Teachers at the schools then identify students with possible food insecurities to benefit from the program.

The Elks is a fraternal organization focused on serving local communities with programs that support veterans, help youth, and meet needs specific to the local community.
