Ed grew up and attended school in Lovilia, graduating from the Lovilia High School with the Class of 1959. Following high school, Ed served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany from 1959-1962.

In 1964, he married Linda Frazier at the Methodist Church in Albia. To this union, a daughter, LinAnn, and a son, Bradley Allan, were born.

Ed was a car fanatic throughout his life, owning street rods, a 1934 Chevy, and a Nova, to name a few. He and Linda enjoyed traveling to car shows throughout the Midwest, where his cars won numerous awards. Ed loved visiting with others and having coffee time with his group at different locations. Ed enjoyed being outdoors and spending time at the cabin he built in the woods near the end of his life and riding 4-wheelers on the trails. His true joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he attended all of their activities.

Ed is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda of Lovilia; his daughter, LinAnn (& Jeff) Flahive of Pella; 3 grandchildren: Emily Flahive, Jessica Flahive, and Daniel (& Sydney) Flahive; 2 brothers: Bill (& Betty) Weldon of Lovilia and Greg Weldon of Knoxville; and a sister, Judy (& Ronnie) Conner of Lovilia. Ed is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
