Edwards Claims Second-Team All-America Honors

Oskaloosa–Malik Edwards (So., Drexel Hill, Pa., Business Management) capped a remarkable sophomore campaign with national recognition as the NAIA announced its All-America teams Tuesday.

Edwards was named a Second-Team All-American, one of 12 individuals chosen for that squad. An additional 12 players were on both the First and Third teams, while 46 student-athletes were Honorable-Mention selections.

The sophomore becomes the 34th All-American in William Penn men’s basketball history.

Edwards averaged 16.6 points this year in addition to 3.4 rebounds. He recorded 76 assists, 36 steals, and six blocks as well. A 42.7% shooter overall, the guard hit 33.9% of his three-point attempts. He also knocked down 71.0% of his free throws.

Edwards began the year with 32 points against Great Lakes Christian on October 28; that would serve as his highest-scoring contest of 2022-2023. He recorded two 30-plus point performances and was in double figures on 25 occasions.

The sophomore, who hit 82 total trifectas, had 31 games with at least one make. His season high of seven three-pointers came against Grand View on January 19.

Mason Walters of Jamestown (N.D.) was named NAIA Player of the Year.
