Edward E. Moore, 80, of Oskaloosa died Thursday, November 28, 2013, at the MHP Emergency Department.

Ed was born January 12, 1933, at Wright, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Minnie Wymore Moore. He graduated from Searsboro High School, with the class of 1952. Following high school he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army Ed moved to a farm northeast of New Sharon where he farmed for eight years.

On April 4, 1971, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Miller at Kirksville, Missouri. Ed worked at various factories throughout his life including: Clow Valve, Oskaloosa Engineering and Vermeer.

Ed was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eagles. He played basketball for Searsboro High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and daily coffee and rides in the country with Charlotte.

His family includes his wife of over 42 years, Charlotte Moore of Oskaloosa; a son, Shawn Moore of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Cynthia Stewart of Oskaloosa; a stepson and his wife, Ronald (& Silvanna) Miller of Fairfield, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Mary Robbins of Oskaloosa; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Gary (& Liz) Moore of Montezuma; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Moore, and a sister, Donna Werner.

As was Ed’s wish his body has been cremated and no services are planned.
A family gathering will be held at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
