Eddyville / Blakesburg Jazz Band Earns Division I

Eddyville-Blakesburg Schools

On Saturday,January 29th, the Eddyville / Blakesburg High School Jazz Band earned a division I rating at the State Jazz Band Contest in Muscatine. E.B.H.S. Jazz I received a division I rating from all three judges in the performance center and also earned a division I rating in the sight reading portion of the contest. The band has earned a division I rating eight of the last ten years. E.B.H.S. Jazz I is directed by Joe Overton. The band has 26 members this year.

The next competition for the band will be at the Indianola Jazz Encounter at Indianola High School on February 19th. On February 26th the band will compete at the Indian Hills Jazz Festival and on March 7th,the band will compete at the SEIBA District Jazz Contest in Iowa City. The annual Jazz Band Concert will be on March17th at 7:00. Friends and supporters of the band are encouraged to attend.
