Des Moines, Iowa – The Rockets of E-B-F continue their run in the state tournament in Des Moines on Friday with 4 of 7 wrestlers still alive in the championship bracket. Jaren Glosser, second ranked Blake Marolf, Jason Crosby, and Tucker Black all advance to today’s quarterfinal round at the State tournament at Wells Fargo Arena. Meanwhile, E-B-F’s Cody Brown, Dillon Pigsley and Chance Wursta were eliminated after dropping their first two matches. As a team, the Rockets are in 7th place overall with just 16 points separating them from #1 Alburnett. On Wednesday at team duals, E-B-F finished second to Alburnett after coach Brett Little decided to pull his varsity wrestlers and replace them with JV grapplers in the finals match late Wednesday night. Little told KIIC before the match “I’m going to put my 7 individual wrestlers in the best position to win championships which start tomorrow – so we may not put them in, but I’m going to see what Alburnett does.” Alburnett wrestled all Varsity wrestlers in the team duals in an effort to take the outright crown for Class 1a. Little told KIIC after the meet “I’ve got some parents and fans not happy that we put in some JV and forfeited some matches, but the State of Iowa Athletic Association has put me in this situation by moving the team duals to the day before Individual rounds. It’s a bit unfair for these guys to come out and wrestle 3 times on Wednesday, risk injury, and then turn around and put it all out on the mat Thursday when Individual competition starts”. Team duals used to be held the week after Individual bouts; however last year the state made a change to the schedule.

Eddyville’s second ranked Blake Marolf – 40-1 on the season – gets a 5-4 decision over Reed Lette of Belmond. Marolf will take on Conner Shulista – number one ranked wrestler from Alburnett Friday.

EBF’s Tucker Black get the 6-4 decision over Jake Mize of Woodbury. Black, now 42-4 advances to take on 46-1 Ryan Joint from WCV.

Sig-Keo’s Josh Yoder lost to Evan Hansen and will advance to the consolation round. Yoder won his second match in a 13-11 decision over Colton Stoddard and will continue on in the consolation round.

Linnville Sully’s Melick Meyer is eliminated with losses in his opening bouts to Nathan Boyer of Waplington Parkersburg in a pin 5:25 in, and also looses his consolation match in an 11-9 decision.

Tyle Foubert of Montezuma is beat in a 6-2 decision by Jake Hogan. Foubert will fall into the consolation bracket. Foubert was eliminated from competition after he lost his consolation match by pin in the second period to Josh Matusik.
