Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Community School District

Eddyville, Iowa – The Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont school website had an open letter posted to parents about an incident at Eddyville Elementary on March 19, 2013.

In the open letter to parents, the school districts says, “During recess four different students indicated that a white minivan with a gold stripe that contained at least one white male invited the boys to go with him to see some puppies.”

The letter explains that no one exited the vehicle and that the vehicle did not cross onto the school property. “The boys were on school property and were safe at all times,” says that letter to parents.

The district says on their website that both Mahaska and Wapello County Sheriff’s Offices were working cooperatively with the school district, saying, “The Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Community School District puts student safety first. We are providing all needed information to the joint sheriff’s offices. We have collaboratively developed a safety plan starting Wednesday, March 20, 2013.

If you have any questions or concerns, the district encourages residents to contact either sheriff’s office or the district.
