E911 Board Hears From Their Attorney And Passes Security Audit
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County E911 Board met on Thursday evening at the Iowa State Extension Office.
The board discussed the Mahaska County Board of Supervisors legal petition that has been filed against the E911 Board.
Nick Maxwell is the attorney for the E911 Board and representing them in court against the Board of Supervisors.
Maxwell said that the answer to the petition was recently filed. “Very early stages of litigation,” said Maxwell of the legal proceedings. “Not much to report on that yet.”
The board also heard from Jamey Robinson about a recent 911 audit, in which the center passed their recent security audit. “Had 3 minor issues that we got corrected very quickly. One of them involved old staff members still listed, a couple of really minor things.”
“So we’re really pleased with the way that came out,” added Robinson.
Mark Groenendyk, a member of the E911 Board and a Mahaska County Supervisor, asked if the audit is done yearly.
Robinson replied that he believes it’s done every two years.
The board then held an initial discussion on the upcoming 2019-2020 budget. “Yes folks, we are starting to get ready for budgets for next year,” said Board Chairman Dustin Hite.
A preliminary budget was presented to the board. “I don’t really have anything big on the radar. We’ve been very fortunate to get a lot of the stuff we were looking at through some additional funding streams,” added Robinson.
When asked about the length of the litigation, the attorney for the E911 said that the court case could be drug out to approximately 2 years, depending upon appeals.
