E.P.I.C. Youth Group Takes Off In Oskaloosa

Ring toss was a popular activity at the E.P.I.C. Youth Group event on Sunday evening

Oskaloosa, Iowa – With the start of a new school year, and summer vacation coming to an end, a local church re-formed its youth group for the start of the new year. Over 80 students made an evening out of the carnival type atmosphere that included a dunk tank, laser tag, games, lots of food, and loads of generous volunteers.

Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa is hosting E.P.I.C. Youth Group (Experiencing Possibilities in Christ). They will meet every Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for Middle School and High School students.

Kim Andeway said the church didn’t have a high school program for the youth until this organization recently started. With changes in staffing at the church, parents stepped forward to help volunteer. Kim said, “We really wanted to add the high school program back, because kids need it.” and she went on to say that, “people are welcome here every Sunday evening.”

The group will start up September 11th, and the youth will have their own praise and worship team which will be completely youth led. They will also be able to share a meal together, enjoy scripture, and then they will break down into more age appropriate groups.

Charlie Comfort, who is a member of the youth council committee for E.P.I.C said, “We’ve been planning this for a few months now.” You can also catch Charlie leading a middle school group once a month at the youth group.

If you want more information on the program you can contact their church at 641.672.2564 or Kim at 641.295.1359.
