E.B.H.S Band Wins Contests

Eddyville-Blakesburg Marching Band

The Eddyville / Blakesburg Marching Band had a great day in Cedar Rapids and Pella Saturday as they outscored a total of 16 other bands in two marching band competitions. In the afternoon, the band competed at the Linn-Mar Marching Band Contest and placed 1st in class 2A with a score of 74.2. The band also placed 1st at the Marching Dutch Invitational with a score of 70.5. At the Linn-Mar Festival, the E.B.H.S. Band outscored the bands from Sumner-Fredricksburg, Davis County, Clear Creek Amana, Marion, Oskaloosa, Western Dubuque, Williamsburg, Mt. Pleasant, Solon, Norwalk, Bettendorf, Xavier, and Clinton. E/B placed 4th in overall competition.

Eddyville-Blakesburg Marching Band

That evening, the EBHS Marching Band placed 1st in class 2A at the first annual Marching Dutch Invitational Contest in Pella. EB also won the Outstanding Drumlne and Color Guard Awards in class 2A. The E.B.H.S. Marching Band has 81 members this year. The Color Guard Captains are Brandy Faybik and Sarah Shaw. The soloists for this year’s show are Brooke Lunsford and Jessica Jones. The Drum Majors are Kelly Lane and Megan Street. The band is directed by Joe Overton, Dezirae Russell, and color guard instructor, Amanda Vroegh. This Saturday, the band travels to Urbandale. They perform at 5:00 in class 2A competition. The band competes at Valleyfest in West Des Moines on October 9th. On October 16th the band competes at State Marching Band Contest in Pella and then at the Mid-Iowa Band Championships in Ankeny that evening. As always, friends and supporters of the band are encouraged to attend and lend your vocal support.
