The award recognizes Dr. Kollmorgen for his dedication to building partnerships that strengthen cancer prevention, education, screening, and treatment access for rural Iowans.
Dr. Kollmorgen established the first cancer tumor board at a Critical Access Hospital in Iowa, bringing together more than 70 professionals across specialties to collaborate on patient treatment plans. His leadership connects Mahaska Health care teams with regional specialists, combining expertise to provide coordinated, compassionate cancer care.
His commitment extends into the community through Mahaska Health education and screening events, including a community presentation as part of the statewide Cancer in Iowa: 99 Counties Project, skin cancer screenings with William Penn University, and Women’s Health Night.
“Dr. Kollmorgen brings people together to strengthen the care we provide,” shared Amy Marshall, Mahaska Health Chief of Clinical Operations. “Our patients are our neighbors, friends, and family.
