Dorothy Hoover, 80, of What Cheer died Monday, June 15, 2020 in Des Moines, Iowa. Dorothy was born December 16, 1939 to her Parents, Ruth (nee Smith) and Burton Funk.

Dorothy Ann Hoover was an LPN 36 years. She retired from Manor house nursing care facility in Sigourney.

Dorothy loved to fish, camp and most of all spend time with her family at the pond. Dorothy resided at Homestead Assisted Living in Oskaloosa, where she made many friends. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by her children: Cheryl (& David) Hemsley, Leilani (& Gerry) Tremmel, Billy (& Melinda) Hoover, Jim (& Tammy) Hoover, and Mike (& Lori) Hoover; and a daughter-in-law, Cris Hoover. Cherished grandmother of: Angie Hoover and Cory Hoover, Chelsea (& Brandon) Molyneux, and Shanoah (& John) Sullivan; Jason (& Amber) Tremmel, Josh (& Bobbi) Tremmel, Jacoby (& Whitney) Tremmel, Jeri (& Eric) Gragg; Olivia Hoover; Courtney Hoover and Conrad Hoover; and MiKayla Hoover; step-grandmother of Lisa Ryan; loving great-grandmother of thirteen grandchildren; step-great-grandmother of four; Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hoover; Son, David Hoover; Grandson, Jeremy Hoover; Parents, Ruth (nee Smith) and Burton Funk, brother and sister in law, Robert (& Mary) Kilfoil.

A graveside memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Sunday, June 21 at the Highland Cemetery near What Cheer.
A luncheon will be held immediately following at David and Cheryl’s residence at the pond.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Highland Cemetery Memorial Fund.
