Donation Helps Brighten Square

Members of the Mahaska County 4-H club Scott-U-Need-Us work on cleaning up and planting flowers in the city square Wednesday

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The summer is upon us, and a group of Oskaloosa 4-H members spent one of the first days of their summer vacation giving back to their community.

The Mahaska County 4-H group Scott-U-Need-Us raised a good amount of money selling cookies and hot chocolate at the annual lighted Christmas parade, and decided to give back to the community that had supported them.

So, grabbing their shovels and rakes, buckets of water and trays of flowers the group cleaned up and planted flowers at various places on the square.

Lexi Randau, daughter of group leader Janelle Randau, said this was a good project to do. Lexi also made good use of the skills her mom has, as owner of The Garden Planner.
